Est-ce grave de dormir avec du maquillage?

Se démaquiller permet d’éliminer toute trace de pollution, de sueur et de peaux mortes, accumulées au cours de la journée. Qu’arrive-t-il à votre peau si vous sombrez dans les bras de Morphée avant cette étape fatidique ? 

Une soirée chez des amis qui se transforme en pyjama party, la fatigue qui prend le dessus, le démaquillant en rupture de stock au supermarché… nous avons toujours une bonne raison de ne pas nous démaquiller avant de dormir. Pour certaines, cette habitude est régulière, pour d’autres un peu moins. À quel point cela impacte la qualité de notre peau ? Réponse du Dr Naima Midoun, dermatologue. 

Dormir avec du maquillage : quelles conséquences ?

Le démaquillage est indispensable pour chasser les impuretés qui viennent se déposer sur notre visage tout au long de la journée (particules de pollution, de poussières, allergènes, etc…), mais aussi pour éliminer les cellules mortes et réguler l’excès de sébum

S’endormir avec du maquillage n’est pas catastrophique, s’il s’agit d’un phénomène isolé : “notre peau a de la ressource, insiste l’experte. mais cela doit rester un réflexe à éviter”. Et pour cause ? Notre peau profite de la nuit pour se remettre des épreuves de la journée !

Les cellules de notre peau profitent de la nuit pour se régénérer et le maquillage constitue un obstacle. 

  • En ne se démaquillant pas, on laisse une couche de maquillage obstruer les pores et empêcher la peau de se régénérer correctement. Conséquence, et non des moindres : l’apparition de boutons et de comédons.
  • Côté regard, ce n’est pas mieux… Dormir avec du mascara assèche les cils et les fragilise.
  • De même, dormir avec son rouge à lèvres a tendance à assécher les lèvres
  • À long terme, ce manque d’hydratation peut aussi favoriser l’apparition de rides et l’assèchement cutané

De l’importance de prendre soin de sa peau à posteriori

Si un cas d’extrême nécessité vous a obligés à passer outre la case démaquillage, la dermatologue conseille d’y remédier en portant une attention particulière à votre peau le lendemain :

  • lavez soigneusement votre visage avec un savon neutre,
  • puis utilisez un produit exfoliant pour éliminer les peaux mortes
  • et appliquez une crème hydratante.

Essayez, tant que faire se peut de passer la journée sans maquillage, pour laisser votre peau respirer.
